It's a New Year....Why Not Coupon???

New Years Resolution: Save More Money

Two years ago, I attended a Relief Society Activity with my Mother-in-Law and Sister-in-Law. It was all about how to make coupons work for you. I have to admit, I've always used coupons. I got that from my mother. However, after attending this activity I was skeptical. However, I am a total believer now. For the past two years I have been stocking up and saving bucks! Now, if you are an unbeliever, then let me change your mind.

#1 I have not spent more than $3 on name brand diapers since my baby was born. True story!! In fact, I've even gotten diapers free!!! Did you hear that? NAME BRAND! In fact, for the first 3 months after my son was born I didn't even have to buy diapers.

#2 I don't buy cereal for more than $1. And it is the good stuff!

#3 All the stuff in the picture above, I got for a total of less than $20. Did you see there are 4 packages of razors? 4!!!! And that toothpaste...was free.

#4 My husband is in to it too. You wouldn't believe some of the deals he has found. Cheap electronics, free gift cards, tickets to sporting events.

#5 I have just totaled up my 2010 coupon savings and I have saved over 60% on my groceries and toiletry items!! Now I am not a professional. I know some people can save like 80-90% on their bills. But I am totally happy with 60%. I mean come on. 60% of on diapers and formula! I'm not crying.

If that doesn't convince you....I don't think anything will.

My New Years Resolution is to cut my grocery bill into half of what I normally spend. That will be pretty interesting. I'll let you know how it goes.

How do you save money? Give us your advice and suggestions! I'd love to read them!!

  1. I know so many ladies on blogger who spend nil on items! I'm happy saving 50+%!!! I live in a podunk town (if you wanna call it that) with the nearest city having NO... NO... NO competition. The best I have is Wal-Mart which comps state-wide! Its hard to find the brand sales everyone else manages to get. Like the free items etc.... cause our wal-mart cut out most of their older brands and we have one CVS that barely EVER restocks >:(

  2. Brooke Anna,
I totally understand. I'm with you, any savings is better than nothing. Plus, when you have little ones it is great to be able to afford "expensive" diapers. I've used my diaper coupons at walmart and still come out with a 40-60% savings. I'm not complaining. Time is money and using coupons can get out of hand!

  3. I nominated you for an award at
    check it out to accept!

  4. check out also, this guy took a challenge to eat on only $1 a day. He also has where he is using coupons to buy food he donates to food pantries. I read his first 30 days on $/day, so interesting
