Grilled Strawberry Shortcake

As it is summer, I love to use my grill and keep my house a bit cooler.  It is also a great time to eat STRAWBERRIES!  We love strawberries.  Mmmm....so I'm going to share with you how to make grilled strawberry shortcake.

First, whip up your shortcake dough.  I used my bisquick mix to make mine.

Now, drop your dough onto a piece of foil.  Make them whatever size you'd like.  The bigger the longer it will take to cook on the grill.

I also placed mine on a foil liner for the grill.  This way they are easier to transport.  You don't have to do this, but it makes life easier.

Cut up some strawberries to be grilled.

Place them on the grill on very low heat.  Or just on indirect heat.  (That means they are not directly over flames.)

Place your shortcake on the grill.  Turn it the medium-low and let them "bake".  You'll know they are done when they start to turn golden brown on the tops and bottom.

Now slice your shortcake open and cover in strawberries.  Super easy and great at keeping your home nice and cool  Enjoy!

Grilled Strawberry Shortcake

1/2 quart strawberries
2 1/3 c. Bisquick
1/2 c. milk
3 Tbsp sugar
3 Tbsp butter, melted

Mix Bisquick, milk, and sugar.  Drop dough into about 6 biscuits onto a slice of foil.  Place on a pre-heated  medium-low grill.  Grill for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown and no longer doughy.  Meanwhile, clean and slice strawberries in half.  Place strawberries on the grill for about 3 minutes to soften.  Slice shortcake in half and top with strawberries.
