Dr Pepper Pulled Chicken

My husband LOVES Dr. Pepper.  So naturally we have tons of it on hand.  I thought I'd try out some Dr. Pepper as a marinade.  So I decided on Dr. Pepper chicken.

First, make your marinade.  Mix Dr. Pepper, ketchup, garlic and Worcestershire sauce.  I used the whole can but it was pretty sweet so you might just use 1/2 or 3/4 of the can.
Place chicken in the crockpot.

Top with marinade, brown sugar and onions.  Cook for 5-6 hours.

Your cooked chicken will look like this.

Your liquid will look like this.  Take out your onions and strain out any floaters.

Add your chicken back in.  I didn't use all of my liquid.  I didn't want to runny of chicken, you decide.

Dr. Pepper Pulled Chicken

1 can Dr. Pepper
1/4 c. ketchup
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/8 c. Worcestershire 
3 Tbsp Brown Sugar
2-3 chicken breast
1/2 onion

Mix together 1 can of Dr. Pepper, ketchup, garlic and Worcestershire sauce in a bowl.  Place chicken breast in crockpot and top with Dr. Pepper mixture.  Sprinkle brown sugar on top and place onion slices all around.  Place on low heat for 5-6 hours.  Remove chicken from crockpot and shred.  Remove onions from crockpot and replace chicken in liquid.  Mix thoroughly.  Use a slotted spoon to dish out chicken onto sandwich buns or serve over rice.
