PR&P: Popover Tunic Top

I am SUPER excited this year for Project Run & Play!  This is the first year I have been able to fully participate.  Perhaps that is because I am not working full time!  I have had SO much fun thinking of projects and patterns to make and remix for this.

So for this challenge we were asked to use the Oliver + S Popover Dress Pattern which is a FREE Pattern!!  Who doesn't like free?

However, Challenge #1:  It doesn't come in my little ones size!  So I had to grade the pattern to a 12 month(ish) size.

Challenge #2:  What to do?!  I decided to make a tunic top.  I wanted sleeves since the fall is upon us.

First, I made the "sleeves".  I wanted a sort of kimono type sleeve that would flow.  So I drafted the smaller O + S pattern and added my sleeve pattern.

Next, I cut my pieces.  They I knew I wanted to keep with the bias tape on the sides, so I wasn't too concerned about the sides all matching up.  Once the pieces were cute I sewed them together.

Then used my bias tape from my knits fabric.

Used the bias tape around the neck and armholes.  I decided to use a double needle to allow for some stretch of the tunic.

Voila!  Cutest baby around!  Doesn't she look great in purples!

I love how the sleeves turned out!  Fluttery but also with a little modern twist!
