Since it is the fall and the holidays are almost upon us. I decided to "Get My Crap Together" and reorganize my house. I know we had a great summer getting organized, but let's face it. It is a never ending job!!
My children have a LOT of toys. And our house is not real big. So it is a constant battle to keep their toys organized and away.
This was the previous site of our "toys". They were also all over the bedroom. Since my little ones currently share a room, we had to make some space and get a better system going.
We also have a ridiculous amount of children's books. Don't get me wrong because I LOVE me some children's books. But, they end up everywhere.
So this fall I decided to "rotate" our toys and books.
I moved the toy cubbie into our family room and added some new bins to our space. I went through ALL the toys. Most have either Toy Bags or I Spy Bags already. I boxed up most of the toys and put them in the closet. This way we can take one out at a time and then play with it without everything getting lost.
I also moved the bookcase closer to the toys. I put out about 15 books, many fall themed and put the rest away in the closet. Around Thanksgiving, I plan to rotate the books and put the winter books out. I have also found, if I put the holiday books in with our holiday decorations, they tend to stay "fresh" to the kids. So when the Christmas decorations come out, so will the Christmas stories, etc.
I love this forward facing bookcase. It is a DIY bookcase. I posted a tutorial on it a few years ago. Check it out HERE.
