Mr. Turtle Softie Pattern

Free Turtle Softie Pattern
I always admire those who can make stuffed toys for their little ones.  I'm not really that crafty patient.  But I will say I successfully completed Mr. Turtle!!

Why does that matter?  My 3 year old loves the "turtle game".    Which stands for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.  He doesn't actually watch the show.  No, he just has the bedspread, the golfing game, some stickers and now the backpack.

So anytime he sees a turtle, it is from the "turtle game".

Thought I'd share the new "turtle game" pattern with you today.

You'll Need:
Pattern  (Print out the Pattern HERE)
3 to 4 contrasting fabric scraps (8 inches or so)
Cotton Batting
2 Buttons
Thread

Once you've cut out your pieces.  Stitch around the legs, tail and head.  Leave the straight edge open.

Take your scissors and clip around the rounded edges on each of your pieces.  Then iron them really well and turn them right side out.

Stitch the 4 body pieces together down the side seam like the picture above.  Leave a 2" hole on one of the sides for turning later.  Clip the rounded edges and iron.

Should look something like the above picture now.

Stuff the legs, tail and head.  Don't overstuff.  You want them to be a little "floppy".

Take the bottom piece of your turtle and pin the legs, tail and head to it upside down.

Now pin the bottom edge and the body pieces right sides together.  Stitch around the bottom edge in a circle.

Pull the turtle body right side out through the opening on one of your body pieces.

He should look something like this.  Stuff the body with batting until you get the shape and fluffiness you want.

Hand stitch the opening closed.  I used a slipstitch.

Place the eyes on the head and stitch in place.

There you have it.  Mr. Turtle all ready to go.

This one is actually named "Mike".  Like Mike Wazowski from Monsters, Inc.   Again, I have a 3 year old.  Don't ask questions.
