I am so excited to be part of the Snowflakes and Lace Series with Sewing Mama RaeAnna. There is so much fun going on make sure you check out all the details HERE.
I had a lot of fun thinking up ideas for this project. My "Getting Ready For Baby Series" is going on right now and I knew these two series would fit perfectly together. When I think of winter I think of the colors blue, white and silver. So in coming up with an idea for this series I started with my colors.
I wanted to make something for my baby girl. As she
is so very mobile never sits still, I knew this would be a challenge. I didn't want to make anything that could be ruined easily or rip. So I settled on eyelet lace. Which is a great fit!
I knew I wanted a skirt and while looking for some inspiration came up with this vest. How perfect is this for the winter weather. And much more feminine then a regular fleece vest.
The exterior of the vest is cotton. I trimmed down the eyelet lace and then added polka dot ribbon for an accent. The interior is grey fleece so it is nice and toasty warm. I decided not to do buttons or a zipper, instead the vest closure is ribbon.
For the skirt, I made a fat waistband and added ties. Had this great snowflake fabric and then added eyelet lace at the bottom. (
I made a similar skirt for my little girls Halloween costume. See it here using the Sporty Girl Skort Pattern by Peekaboo Patterns.)
I paired it with a little white onesie but the options are endless. A cute sweater or long sleeve shirt.
The vest could be paired with some nice fuzzy pants. So cute!
She seems to enjoy it!
I like that they can work together but can be worn separately too. I am so glad I was part of this series! I know I'll get tons of inspiration and hope I gave you some too.
Thanks RaeAnna! And to top it all off, I was able to get two birds with one stone! This is my entry for Project Run and Play's Winter Wonderland Challenge!
