Project Sewn: Make It Pink Challenge

This week for the Project Sewn Challenge, we were to make something Pink.  Now I am a blonde, so pink is a good color for me.  I wanted something simple but something that I could pair with lots of different types of outfits.

I found this great lace knit at Joann's.  It is also stripes which I love.  I thought about making an entire dress with it, but then thought, nope.  I really don't like dresses.  Why would I waste good fabric on a dress.  Instead, I used the Seafarer Top from Sew Much Ado.  (Used it last week too!)  But this time, I made a facing for the neckline and just hemmed the bottom instead of using a band.  I wanted a little more dressy look and I think I got it.

For the skirt, I actually had a maternity dress that I could never wear because it was too short for my liking.  So I cut through the skirt portion to make this skirt.  It is more fitted then the dress, which I like.  And it is a really nice length.

Overall, I am very happy with the look.  It is casual and simple, but dressy enough to wear to church or on a fun date night.  I also had fun attempting to take pictures in the snow.  Had to wear my snow boats because the snow was pretty deep.  We got like 5 inches overnight!
