If you have been around for a bit, you know that my son LOVES Mario. He has a bit of an obsession. He loves to play the game, but more then that he loves anything that has a picture of Mario. It all started back when he was 2. He decided he wanted to be Mario for Halloween and he has never looked back. (Check out his costume HERE.) So this year for his birthday he wanted a Mario party. That is what he got.
We planned to have a small family party but I still wanted to make it special, so we put up "coins" using yellow balloons hung from the ceiling. We also hung up the Happy Birthday sign my sister-in-law had made us. I stitched together 4 of the Toad Napkins to make the wall hanging in the back.
For his cake, he asked for Yoshi. I decided to make a chocolate cake covered in marshmallow fondant. Then I added yoshi using my star tips. I use THIS method on how to apply the Yoshi picture first and then fill in the design.
We found the table cloth, plates and napkins at the party store. But you can get them on Amazon: Mario Table Cloth (affiliate), Mario Plates (affiliate) and the Toad Napkins (affiliate).
Overall, it was a fun little project and super simple. My son loved it and still talks about his awesome Mario Party.
